Cristiano Ronaldo was born in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal on 5 February 1985, to Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, a cook, and José Dinis Aveiro, a municipal gardener. Ronaldo grew up in a working-class neighborhood atmosphere. His childhood life was shaped by hardship, because his family was not wealthy. After the death of Ronaldo’s father from kidney disease, his mother worked as a cook and cleaning person to help keep the children fed and maintain the family.
