Queen Elizabeth II is Head of State of the England and other 16 Commonwealth realms as well as head of the 54-member Commonwealth of Nations. She became Queen on 6 February 1952 at the age of 25. She has reigned more than five decades is the second longest reign period in the history of the British monarch.   Elizabeth is now Queen of Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Queen Elizabeth II was born 21 April 1926 to George VI, was a king of England and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. But no one thought at the time of birth, Elizabeth would become queen of Great Britain. However only at the age of 13 she first met with her distant cousin, Philip Mountbatten. She fell in love with Philip and they began to exchange letters and later on their engagement was officially announced in 1947. Following this year, Elizabeth and Philip were married on 20 November at Westminster Abbey. They got 2500 wedding gifts from around the world.

In 2012, Elizabeth marks her Diamond Jubilee 60 years as queen.
