Raj Chakraborty was born on February 21, 1975, in Halisahar, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal to Shree Krishnashankar Chakraborty and Smt. Leela Chakraborty. His father worked at Rishi Bankim Chandra Colleges and mother was a homemaker. Chakraborty comes from a humble background. He has two sisters who are well settled. He completed bachelor’s degree in Arts from RBC College, Naihati. Raj was so much passionate about media arena from early childhood and he left the home to pursue the career in the showbiz industry in a dispute with parents.

After completing education, he started acting in Kolkata but he didn’t get success on the track, later changed his plan and decided to turn the career into film direction. Raj made debut in direction with the telefilm ‘Nawder Chaand’ and got the success. He also associated with the historical TV series ‘Mirakkel’ and ‘Dance Bangla Dance’.
